Dublin

Last weekend I went to Dublin for 3 days and Ian says that I have been complaining all the time. I have no idea why he says that.

Basically, Dublin is a city with a vast history, very good architecture (but terrible urbanism) and many buildings to visit. But because everything is so fucking far apart and the city itself is dirty, sad and depressive, you don´t feel like walking miles to see any.

So we decided to take one of this open top bus tour where the recording was not synchronised with what we were seeing. It was raining, so we got soaked on the top floor and on the ground floor there were leaks. On top of that, it was so dirty that the drips were black!

Although talking about dirty places....the stairs where we had the apartment were so filthy that we needed to breathe through our mouth each time we went up or down.

But, of course, the prices were as per London. A pint of beer around £7. A little toast with tomato and cheese around £9 . The Guinness factory (a massive building full of tacky stupid stunts) £23....etc. Put in a nutshell,we can say that, in Dublin, you go into places with fear....fear of being scammed one more time.

The only thing with a bit of character was the temple bar area, an intricate network of streets and squares, full of Irish pubs with live music (it is promoted as Dublin´s cultural quarter). But of course, you need to love watching drunk teenagers (very cultural indeed)

The thing is I enjoyed a lot, although it could seem the contrary. I did not take too many pics because I was scared of having to pay for taking them. Although I took this one.... a picture is worth a thousand words.
