Whetley Mill
There are buildings that don´t leave anybody unmoved, and this is one of them.
Whetley Mill in Bradford, built in 1863 to designs by Milnes and France of Bradord.
Even for those who only see an awful lot of stone, dead pigeons, live pigeons, pigeons shit, and broken glass, they still feel overwhelmed by it, but they can´t recognise why.
They can´t recognise it, because the reason is something that you can´t see , it is not tangible. What startles you, the beauty of the building is the proportions, and the rhythm, the space in essence.
The time will pass, the building will change in use, but the scale, the rhythm, and the proportions will remain there to startle you. Because all that you can´t touch is indestructible.
